Faux Window Murals with Red Brick

Ever have a wall where you wish you could knock out and put a window in? That was the case in this dining room. It only had one window – a sliding glass door and I just couldn’t take the darkness anymore. Out comes my paintbrush.

A210

I was very into Tuscan decor in this house, so a landscape with bottles of oil, tomatoes & garlic seemed in order.

I taught a class in faux red brick after this mural because it was so much fun and so dramatic.

In the other “window” I went fruity – lemons, grapes, pears.
(don’t mind the junk on the light – it was Christmas and I strung garland & pomegranates.)

So if you’re feeling boxed in – grab your paintbrush. Well, maybe hang some pictures of landscapes if you’re not feeling adventurous. ;)

If you are feeling adventurous, and have no idea how to paint a landscape, I’d be happy to help. How? I’ll do step-by-step photos for you – maybe even a video, if I’m feeling adventurous! Let me know if you’re interested.

Feng Shui Note: For the best energy flow, rooms should have windows on at least 2 walls. So, actually, this wound up being a feng shui “cure”, even though I just wanted to visually enlarge the space.

I’m linking up to these wonderful parties. Check ‘em out!

o My God!!! This is so beautiful!!! If this were in my apartment I think I would love being there alll the time. I'm going to check out your etsy shop. If you painted this, like on canvas or something I would totally have to buy it!

I just love these! Last year I was at a farmers market in Sarasota FL and they were selling Tuscan murals that you hang on the wall but they do look like windows. Yours is fantastic!
