Decorative Serving Tray – Stars & Stripes

It’s almost that time of year when we start entertaining outdoors. Unless you like making tons of trips back and forth, you’ll want a pretty serving tray to carry all your goodies.
I actually forgot I had this. I found it on a shelf in my shed. Once I got all the cobwebs off, I started to brush on some paint rather than spray it because it was raining.
I can’t even remember when I got it, but I know I picked it up at Michael’s for about $5.
Once I applied one coat of paint, it was clear it was going to take multiple coats. So I just set it aside for a few days until the sun came out and grabbed some red spray paint.

I probably should’ve painted the center too, but I was geared up for the canvas painting.
I started with a piece of artist canvas. You could also cut up an outdoor tablecloth, though.

But my plan is to paint different canvases for different holidays and just switch them out.

I had to cut it to fit, which was no big deal with a rotary cutter.

This was my 2nd design. The first was way too detailed – like I usually do – but I saw this on an election sign and went with it. Then I just penciled in a heart and a couple of stars.

This is the closest thing to Picasso I’ll probably ever paint. I was just looking for quick & easy.

I just added some squiggles sprayed it with a matte sealer. Now it’s easy to wipe clean.

The best thing is I can remove it and put a different design in it whenever I want.

This will work for Fall & Thanksgiving. Now you see why I painted the tray red, right?
