Winter Scene–Final Steps!

102_3413

I’ve been MIA for the past few days, and I apologize for that. I’ll tell you why in another post.

First, let’s finish up this painting ‘cause we’re almost done.

All that’s left is the border and some ‘snowflakes’.

102_3407

For the border, slap on some of the medium blue paint.

Paint a small area so you can wet-blend it with some of the light blue paint.

102_3408

On top of the medium blue, add some light blue paint.

102_3410

Then smoosh the 2 colors together. Smoosh. Blend. Pounce. Smear.

Whatever you want to call it.

The actual term is scumble, if you really want to know.

But when I do it, it’s more of a smoosh.

Smoosh your two colors around all four edges of the painting.

Once the border is dry, paint some white circles.

102_3412

Don’t get all weird about this. I mean, you don’t have to make them exact or anything.

Not that being exact = weird.

No offense to all of you perfectionists out there. Okay?

I certainly have my own issues of perfectionism. Plenty of them, believe me.

Another story for another day.

Just paint ‘em on there in different sizes.

Then take a liner brush, or any fine tip brush, with white paint.

  • make a circle in the center
  • paint ‘compass’ lines around the circle
  • add little dots on the outer edge of the lines
  • add some ‘vee-points’, if you want.

These are super simple snowflakes.

If you want to get more creative, be my guest and have fun with it.

But that’s it for our Winter Scene!

If want to see the whole thing, here is Part 1 and Part 2.

Since this is really pretty basic, you could embellish it if you want.

Add a snowman or two. Or maybe a little house.

Have fun with it, whatever you do!

As usual, I’m a little late today, but I’m still linking up to some great Tuesday parties.
