How-To Tuesday

Being a chronic DIYer, I love a good tutorial. When I started blogging last year I subscribed to a bunch of Home & Garden newsletters. A lot of the time they have nice tutorials. However, the project instructions I see on blogs are wonderful! And, it feels good to know a ‘lay person’ has tried something and made it work.

Let’s start with chalkboard paint. There are tons & tons of projects using chalkboard paint. But this one goes a step further and shows how to get a cool border off the computer.

The Bird and the Berry created this wonderful sign. Actually, she made 3! She gives tons of pictures and instructions – from constructing the sign itself to making the framed image. Fantastic! And I thought I had a nice garage sale sign this weekend . . . no, I didn’t take a picture!

How To Do Something painted her tile backsplash. She didn’t just roll the paint on, she sponged it to give it dimension. What a huge difference it made in her kitchen.

Have you ever stripped a piece of furniture? Ugh, what a project. But Amy @ Peppertowne has inspired me with this tutorial to give it another shot.

Now that the weather has warmed up, I really want to try some new projects. Thanks to these gals for such great instructions!

What project are you working on now, or getting ready to tackle?

  2. I paint furniture and write. These are my projects for now. I did purchase a projector to paint murals and it is the most wonderful tool so far. I love color so I'm always checking stuff out when I walk into someone else's home or into a place of business to see what I would do. I believe that color changes everything.
