Dryer Sheet Candle Wraps

Yes, you read right.

Dryer sheets.

These guys that you use if you forget to add fabric softener to your rinse cycle.

Have you ever noticed the texture of these guys?

Crinkly, but not like tissue paper.

Webby, but not like spider webs.

(Although, I bet someone could come up with something for Halloween with these guys.)

Soft, especially after they’ve been used.

Which brings me to my candle wraps.

Mom had some white candles.

Bore-ring.

Okay, maybe not boring, but not what you want for Fall.

I coulda painted them.

Paint wax candles?

Oh yeah, Peeps, grab some Candle Medium next time you’re at the craft store.

Mix this stuff with acrylic paint and your paint will adhere to the wax.

Cool, huh?

Think Christmas. Think presents. Think Stencils.

Think dollar store candles, some paint and medium.

Now you see what I’m talking about?

This isn’t supposed to be a tutorial on painting candles. Maybe I’ll write about that later.

This is about using dryer sheets.

Put some paper down, then a used – make sure it’s already been used – dryer sheet and slap on some paint.

Use a sponge, a brush, a rag – it truly doesn’t matter.

Then lift the dryer sheet up from the paper underneath and let it dry on some waxed paper.

Once dry, wrap it on to the candle. Glue it, tape it, ModPodge it, whatever floats your boat.

That’s it.

Done. Finis.

Fantastico, no?

Super simple, just the way I like to craft.

Did you notice the pretty sconce-holder-thingies? My brother made those.

He also made this clock. Designed it, cut it all out with . . . what? A scroll saw? I dunno. Pretty cool though, huh?

Yeah, poor Mom. Her house is full of stuff her kids make for her, even though we’re all grown.
