Thanksgiving Tables–Burlap

I’m just old enough to remember burlap bags. Bags of potatoes. Bags of feed for animals. Burlap bags. Before plastic.

Before Pottery Barn.

Before Ballard’s.

What do the say . . . Everything old is new again?

Well, I can’t imagine my grandmother or my great-grandmother ever putting burlap on their Thanksgiving table.

Ever!

But I think burlap is charming.

Kristin @ CovetableDesigns uses burlap as a simple table runner.

TinyPrints did an entire burlap Inspiration Board.

And then there’s Martha. Crystal, china & burlap. Dried flowers tied with luxe satin ribbon. It works, doesn’t it, combining the elegance and the simplistic burlap?

Paula @ SweetPea stenciled a monogram, added some ribbon and created this beautiful burlap table runner. Simple, but sooo cute.

What do you think? Would you use burlap for your table? Or do you use more traditional table linens?

  1. What a beautiful collection of burlap crafts. I've been slow to warm up to the burlap craze, but with projects like these, it would be hard to deny that burlap has come in to its own!
