Did you have a good weekend? I did. It was fabulous, in fact. I love when I get to spend time with my grandson. . .
. . . who still says “Cheese!” every time he sees a camera . . . which makes his smile doofy . . . but he’s still the cutest little boy in the entire universe . . . at least to his grandmother.
It seems like he’s growing so fast. Every week he has new sayings and words. Yesterday it was “actually.”
“Actually, Gramma, I really want to go to the dollar store.”
“I’m really hungry, actually.”
I have no idea where he got that one, but it was pretty darn cute.
But what I love even more than his new words is seeing the way his mind thinks.
Grandson: Poppy – I really want a new toy!
Poppy (Hubs) – Not today, Santino.
Santino: Pleeeze, Poppy!
Poppy: Okay. If you can count to 20, you can have one, 1, ONE, only 1 toy and I’m serious (trying to convince himself more than the baby).
Santino: Okay! 1 . . . . 2 . . . . 20!
Now, he’s perfectly capable of counting to 20, or 30 even. We’re even working on addition and subtraction. But he’s developed what he thinks are shortcuts to getting what he wants.
And there was an update to this story. It’s making me kinda wonder why my mother-in-law has such bad breath.
BBH, Santino & MIL were in the car.
Santino: Poppy! (in a stage whisper)
BBH: What?
Santino points to his great grandmother, trying in his best 3 year old manner to be inconspicuous.
BBH: What? he asked, not understanding why Santino was pointing at her.
Santino: You know!
BBH: once it dawned on him – Mama, want a breath mint?
I know, I know . . . I’m a terribly proud grandmother. Yes, I am! But I didn’t get to have my own kids. And my stepsons were 7, 10, & 12 when they moved in with us, so I totally missed the toddler years. It’s so much fun seeing how he grows and changes every week.
And how his mind works.
Oh! Another fun thing happened this weekend. Yesterday I was featured over at Something Simple!
Thanks so much, Ashley!
Also, we had some wonderful projects linked up to Passion for Paint! I’m so inspired by all the different ways to use paint for decorating!
Yep, it was a really fun weekend.
How about you? What did you do? Are you planning any fun projects for Spring?
