Surprise! I spent Sunday tweaking the layout a bit. Do you like it?
I was just tired of the turquoise. I still have a ton to do, but I was too impatient to wait. I’m saving all the links to the tutorials I used so I can share them with you later.
Are you a dog lover? I have to share my latest favorite site, Draw The Dog. Jim George draws great cartoons of dogs that are funny. But you have to go see the site. Seriously! You’ll like it.
I wasn’t a huge dog lover until 18 years ago. I was a kitty person. But then, Hubs moved in, then his 3 boys came, and before I knew it, a humongous bull mastiff was ‘visiting’ for the weekend.
Visiting. Yeah, right.
That’s Bully in the painting up there. BBH said we were keeping him for just the weekend. The first night, Bull was outside, barking his fool head off. I told BBH to let the ‘dang dog’ in.
Bully bounded up the stairs to where I was sitting up in bed, sat down and politely laid that big ol’ head in my lap. Just like that, he won me over.
I still love kitties, but my love affair with dogs commenced that night and is still going strong.
Who’s the black one in the dog painting? That’s L’il Mo.
L’il Mo is Bull’s son. That was another ‘surprise’ for me. We got him when he was supposedly six weeks old. But I don’t buy it. I think he was only 4 weeks. There was a problem with the mother’s milk supply.
So guess who got to bottle feed a little black thing with a big ball for a head and another for his tummy. Now, 11 years later, it’s hard to believe he was ever that small.
But that’s where his name came from – L’il Mo. People laugh at it now, beings how he’s 95 lbs.
L’il Mo was 6 months old when I painted this. No, he didn’t sit still long enough for me to paint. Yes, I used photographs! Lots and lots of photos.
It was my first dog painting, but not my last.
This is Sadie, my mom’s boston terrier. I played around with charcoal for this.
I like to show the pictures of the doggy too.
They all have such personality! Which is why I love painting animals so much.
Lester, the bull dog. I painted this from pictures on Facebook . . . taken from a phone! Little bit tricky, it was.
This is Roxie. Her daddy is a fireman. Her portrait is in her daddy’s firehouse. On the ceiling!
It’s a ‘faux’ fireman pole! Well, the pole isn’t fake – the hole in the ceiling is! Fun stuff, huh?
Okay, I’m not going to put all the dog art I’ve painted here. Do you wanna know why?
Do ya? Do ya?
Did you notice that little green bar under my new banner up there? The 3rd button from the left says “My Portfolio”. Click on it and you’ll see Pet Portraits.
Do you see how it drops down and gives you menu choices?
Do you want to know how long it actually took me to get that sucker working?
I’m not gonna tell you. Let’s just say it involved bad words, and more than a few breaks where I had to go outside, count to 10 and breathe deeply.
But it’s there now! Okay, there’s only one drop down menu for my portfolio, but I can add more later.
I think I know how to do it now.
I think.
