By now, you know I do a lot of painting for kids rooms. In my experience, kids rooms are the most popular rooms for murals and decorative paint. Especially since 2007.
So where do I get painting ideas for kids rooms?
Hello, Google Images!
Ten, twelve years ago I scoured magazines, ripping pages out like a madwoman. I still have around 8 binders full of photo references.
But now, it’s Google. I love looking at other artists’ work. Their style is always different than mine, of course. Some may be more detailed, or some more simplistic.
Like Tracy Garcia.
Her trees are full of whimsy and simplicity, which makes them ideal for kids rooms.
Pink on a brown wall! Contemporary, but still fun.
Yes, brown is one of the ‘hot’ colors in kids rooms, even baby nurseries. I wouldn’t have thought of painting the walls brown, but this painted pink bed crown adds light and brightness to the room.
While it’s common to tie the bedding into painting on walls, I like how graphic she made this plane.
What little girl wouldn’t love her own french boutique!
My mind is just swimming right now with all kinds of painting ideas!
I’ve been wanting to create mural kits for years. After seeing Tracy’s darling murals, I think I have all the inspiration I need!
What do you think? What would you paint in your kids room if you had an easy to follow kit?
Do you like the simplicity of this artwork, or would you prefer a little more detailing?
