It’s Friday, right? So you still have the weekend if you want to get your ‘creative’ on for your valentine sweeties.
You might think I’m crazy (you’re in a good company, if you do) but I find when I’m painting for someone, I really ‘tune-in’ to that person. Even if it’s a pet portrait – I think of the owners while I’m painting. A baby canvas – I think of the mommy or grandma.
Try it and see if the same thing happens for you. For me, it’s like sending positive thoughts to the person while I’m creating for them at the same time. I don’t force it or try to make it happen – it just happens very naturally.
These stenciled shirts that Erin @ Crafts & Sutch made have to be my favorite Valentine’s Day goodies this year. I think she made one for each of her kids.
Too cute! And with a freezer paper stencil and good ol’ craft paint!
I love “Olive Juice”. I think I’ll have to borrow that and add a martini glass!
How about some mixed media cards? Cherie @ CherieBlogs.com used different papers and stamps for this sweet card. She also shows some others that she painted very simply, but oh-so cute.
Look at these fabulous hanging hearts from Martha!
Wax paper and crayon shavings. Super simple, huh?
Now if you’re a painter, these next two ideas are right up our alley.
Paint strips and rubber stamps. Jodi Kahn, author of Simply Sublime Gifts, sprays the strips with hair spray first, lets it dry, and then the ink will adhere.
Or how about these ideas from Ohdeedoh? Fun & colorful. Add some stickers, or stamp them, or pull out some Sharpies and let the kids go to town!
Aren’t these ideas much more fun than store-bought cards? I think so.
But don’t get me wrong. They’re cute, but they’re no substitute for chocolate!
