How to apply Old Paint Finish

It may seem counterintuitive – we buy new-to-us furniture and then spend oodles of time making it look old.

Whether you call it shabby chic, distressed, or antique-looking, we love painting furniture to look old.

If you haven’t delved into the newest rage – chalk paint – you can still achieve an old paint look.

Flea Market Trixie shows us how to get the finish with a simple chip brush.

Yep – a chip brush. If you haven’t tried these little guys, pick some up next time your at your home improvement store. They’re super cheap.

And here’s what I really love about Flea Market Trixie’s method – she doesn’t sand. Hello?!? A girl after my own heart.

No sanding and a simple chip brush. It’s a great old paint finish technique.

If you want bunches of distressed furniture eye candy, Melaine @ Sweet Savannah has a pageful. It’s a good idea to look at different levels of distressing before you start in on your project.

A little or a lot – you decide.
