“Art Gallery” Tour – The Wine Room

WA208
I’m thinking I could write a book called “101 Ways To Paint Leaves & Vines on Your Walls”. So far in this house alone I’ve painted leaves and vines -
and, if you count grapevines, we can add the powder room too.

Okay, that’s only 7 and this wine room will makes 8 so maybe I have to change the title to “10 Ways”.
Although I figure I’d have to be on Oprah for the book to become a best seller and since her show is over and I haven’t even watched OWN yet, I guess the only people privy to these sensational decorating-with-paint ideas are people who read my blog.

Aren’t you lucky.
Ceiling
Yes, as a matter of fact, I think you are. Because you get to see the transformation of this plain ol’ closet small room into a beautiful custom painted wine room.

In the living room there’s this great nook with a cabinet that houses all shapes and sizes of wine glasses.

Or is it ‘goblets’? What I know about wine can be summed up in 2 words.

Red. And white.

But I do happen to know a wonderful couple that know just about everything when it comes to wine. And glasses. (or goblets)

Including how to store wine.

I’m not kidding.

And apparently I know about as much about photography lighting as I do about wine.
I blame it on the overhead light in the wine room.

Yep, this is my handiwork too, made with Gallery Glass. I mean, the decoration is done with Gallery Glass. The light came from Lowe’s. Just a stock frosted white shade.

Have you tried Gallery Glass? It’s awesome. I could write a b. . . forget it. You can read about a window mural here that I made.

Moving on.

We kept the original basecoat in the room and added a color wash over it, then I started on the faux niche, exposed bricks and grape vines.

This was all before the wine racks were installed, of course. {phew!}

Did you know there are a bunch of varieties of grape leaves too? I didn’t. So it came in pretty handy when Mr. Homeowner walked down to his vineyard, picked a few leaves, and brought them in to me for reference.

The name on the urn in the faux niche – Brunello – is the name of a winery they visited on their trip to Italy.
I’m telling ya, these people are truly my ‘patron saints’. If only they owned 2 or 3 more houses.

Then I might make it to “20 Ways To Paint Leaves & Vines”.

Tomorrow will take a look at another faux niche in the master bath.
