Baby Girls Personalized Canvas–Color Options

antique-gold-monogram

How’re you doing today? I hope you’re safe and sound, particularly if you’re on the eastern seaboard. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.

I’m taking a break from painting Fall leaves and Halloween projects for a couple of commissions.

Yes, I actually do like to make money from my paintings. It may seem like I just sit around painting tutorials every day, but no, every now and again someone actually wants to buy something, heehee.

Today I’m sharing some samples for a painted wall hanging that will go in the Enchanted Garden nursery.

Yep, so far I’ve painted a wall mural, a PB bookcase, faux finished some antique gold frames, and now a personalized canvas for the baby girl.

I love clients like these. Especially since I painted big brother’s room 4 years ago. It’s always easier to paint commissions when people know your work.

So you’d think this’d be really simple, right? I mean, I know all the colors in the room. I know the parents’ style and how the room is decorated. But it’s not.

There are loads of options and I like letting my clients visualize those options.

Of course, if I’d just learn a little more about Photoshop, I’d probably save quite a bit of time. But I’m an ol’ dog and my days of learning tricks are quickly drawing to an end.

I said learning, not turning.

Moving on . . .

I started with a few pencil sketches . . .

So I know enough in Photoshop to add the letter ‘L’, ok? But you see the theme – pink, roses, birds, and the baby’s name.

I emailed these pics off to the clients and waited. And waited. And waited.

Apparently having a new baby with an almost 4-year-old little boy is a bit time-consuming and sleep-depriving. Not that I’d know anything about having two kids – I had three at once.

Stepsons, folks. Stepsons. And don’t think I didn’t go thru labor. I did! And it lasted for at least a year and a half.

Moving on . . .

When I heard from Mommy the other day, she attached a painting from a fabulous children’s artist, Shelly Kennedy. I love Shelly’s paintings even though her style is different than mine. And Mommy wanted my style, thank goodness!

This was version #1 – soft pinks with a little antique gold to match the crib and frames I faux finished.

Okay, but kinda plain.

Version #2 – just a few gold dots where the diamonds intersect.

I won’t even show you version #3. Ugh. Ick. Blech. (makes you want to see it, doesn’t it?) Oh, alright.

Told you! But the green was painted over white painted over pink. Not pretty. At all. Moving on . . .

lavender-monogram

How about lavender? It’s pretty and Mommy did request seeing a lavender option so I added some to the birds, the baby’s name and the monogram.

But now the fun starts.

I turned it this way and that so I could find different lighting effects on the glitter and pearl. And metallic. Did I mention metallic? Yeah. Fun stuff.

And then I added some pearl paint to the ribbon banner and switched the crown to pink. Pearl pink, of course. With glitter accents. Although I might get some crystals to glue on the crown.

And the rose on the monogram.

But I think I’ll move it.

Oh, and some pearl paint on the harlequin diamonds too.

What d’ya think? Overkill? Just enough? Or do you like the lavender version better?

And while I’m asking you a bunch of questions, have you ever had problems leaving a comment here? If you have, would you let me know? Laura mentioned it today and I did a test but it seemed fine.

Heavens, you know us bloggers. We gotta have our comments! So, PLEASE let me know if you’ve had any difficulty.

Ok. I’ll let you know which version Mommy decides upon. And when the painting’s finished, I’ll take pics of the entire nursery. It’s really something to see – and I’m not talking about my paintings.

Well . . . maybe just a little bit.
