I’m always ready for Fall to come. There’s something about the air, the smells, that smoky haze that filters the twilight sun. It makes me both nostalgic and hopeful at the same time.
Plus . . . it’s football season!
Yes, I’m a huge fan - a coach’s wife, an NFL player’s aunt . . . I could go on and on. One day I will – and actually write post about football.
Anyways, August is over. Summer is over. And I think most of us in the country are happy to see it go. It’s been a rough one this year, hasn’t it?
August started out for me painting more projects in a house I’ve worked in for years. I call the homeowners my ‘patron angels’ because they’ve hired me so many times.
Even though it was still Summer, I began working on Fall painting tutorials – the first of which was how to paint grapes. Which was featured today over at One Pretty Thing – one of my all-time favorite sites. Rachel’s site is full of all kinds of projects. Every.Single.Day. Go check it out!
Actually, August turned out to be a great month for this l’il ol’ blog in terms of features.
One Saturday I was a guest blogger at Be Different, Act Normal – another blog that shares multiple goodies each day. So to be a guest blogger was an incredible honor.
Then I got to share this thrift store lamp upcycle at The CSI Project. Oh Em Gee! I’ve always tried to link my projects up to CSI’s great link parties, but to share an entire post? Where I got to ramble on and on and on . . . !?! Very cool.
But the absolute highlight of August, and maybe the whole year, was being able to test-drive Martha Stewart’s Decorative Paints by Plaid Crafts. I ran around for three days trying to decide what to paint first before I finally settled on a stenciled burlap runner and a Fall Leaf inset.
There’s not a day that goes by that I’m not using either Martha’s paint or tools. I’ve yet to be disappointed in either.
So get ready for a lot of tutorials. A-Lot. I’m trying to figure out a way to show them all – or at least the seasonal ones - in my sidebar rather than having to click over to my website, mainly because I’m usually behind in uploading them to the website. Shocking, I know. {said with sarcasm}
I mean, so far I’ve done
- How To Paint Grapes
- How To Paint Oak Leaves
- How To Paint Simple Oak Leaves
- 12 Reasons Why You’ll Want These Fall Printables
- and three of them were in one week! Do you have any suggestions to make it easy to see Tutorials at a glance? I was thinking about thumbnail pics with a link to the post. At least for Fall, Halloween and – pretty soon – Christmas. What d’ya think?
Yep, Fall is my favorite time of year so I paint even more than usual. Tomorrow will be a tutorial on apples. Then a whole lotta Halloween tutes, my friends.
Hello, Fall! I’m ready for ya!
What about you? Are you basking in these last days of Summer? And another question – when do you start decorating for Fall?
