I love sharing other bloggers’ projects. It’s like a retweet on Twitter only I’m not limited to just 140 characters. And if you’ve been here before, you know I can’t say “Hello” in two words.
I also love sharing my own projects but this week I’m in the preliminary stages of about four different projects. A painted tapestry, table, a pet portrait for a friend her lost her beloved pug, and a lamp base and shade. Okay, that’s actually five, since I decided to paint the lampshade too.
While I was gathering up all the supplies for each project I went ahead and bought some fabric medium for the lamp shade. After I got home I realized I didn’t need the medium since I’m not gonna wash the shade. Doh!
But if you’re gonna paint fabric that’ll need washing – like these curtains and placemats - you’re going to want some fabric medium.
Pamela @ PB&J Stories used it when she painted these curtains. She tells you why in her post. In fact, she gives a lot of great tips for painting curtains.
Go check out how she transformed some plain gray panels into pure awesomeness. While your there, ask her how she made her blog background the same pattern as her curtains, okay?
Inquiring minds want to know.
If you’re not ready to tackle an entire curtain panel, maybe some placemats are less daunting.
Michelle at Sweet Something Designs painted these quatrefoil placements and some striped ones too. I’m usually not a big orange fan but these just ‘pop’, don’t they? They look awesome on her table!
If you’ve been wanting to try quatrefoil, she also gives you a link to a printable pattern.
I actually didn’t intentionally pick two quatrefoil projects, I swear. But this has been the year for quatrefoil and chevron stripes, hasn’t it? I do love quatrefoil. Chevrons? They’re beginning to grow on me.
Don’t be surprised if one of the four paint projects shows up with one or both patterns!
What about you? Have you painted fabric before? What did you paint? I’d love to know!
