Want To Start A Business? Consider #Franchising

Supercuts Franchising

I want to thank Supercuts Franchising for sponsoring today’s conversation on becoming a business owner, something I’m extremely passionate about.

Lying in bed with the flu for a week gave me a lot of time to reflect. I can’t remember a time where I wasn’t involved in a family-owned business of some sort.

As a child, my family had the resort at Echo Lake, near Lake Tahoe. At age 19, I started my first business, a flower shop. Through the years I’ve started many businesses, some successful . . . most not-so-much.

  • Floral Designer
  • Medical Transcription
  • Organizing Consultant for Medical Practices
  • Dance Instructor
  • Hand Sewn Dancewear
  • Interior Decorator
  • Artist/Muralist
  • Painting Instructor

All of my businesses were start ups, and I mean from the dirt ground floor.

Through the years many, many people have confided to me that they wanted to start a business . . . and then their list of excuses would unfold.

  • no experience
  • no money
  • no skill or talent in one specific area
  • etc. etc. etc.

Those are the very reasons why I wanted to talk about Supercuts Franchising today. When they first approached me I was a bit hesitant to talk about hair styling. Heavens knows, my hair is way down on my list of priorities.

But then I looked into their Franchising Program.

And saw the huge potential for people who want to open a business.

First, let’s clear up any confusion about Supercuts.

Common Supercuts and Franchising Misconceptions

    • This business is for hairstylists. It's not a serious business for people who aren't hairstylists.
    • You need to know how to cut hair to open a Supercuts franchise.

These are both FALSE!

The Truth about Supercuts and Franchising

The hair care industry is stable. It is a need based business, not a want based business. (Frozen yogurt is a want, but a haircut is a need, both in good times and in bad.)

Cutting Hair cannot be made technologically obsolete.

Services must be performed by a licensed professional, you won't ever be cutting hair, you will be in charge of running the business instead.

It's simple to own a Supercuts. You don't have a high amount of staff, inventory costs are low, hours are especially reasonable compared to other franchise industries such as food, automotive, child care, fitness, etc.

The Supercuts brand is widely recognized. It's also backed by national advertising, robust web and mobile presence and the Supercuts brand is sought after nationally.

It’s a fantastic program and that’s why I wanted to share it with you, in case you’re one of those people – or know one – who has always wanted to open a business but has let some list of excuses get in your way.

Check out Supercuts Franchising. It just might be the answer you’ve been looking for.

And let me know when your shop opens. I’ll be your first customer. Open-mouthed smile
