A fellow blogger asked the question on Facebook last week what our favorite cleaning products are. It was a fun little thread and it got me thinking about my cleaning favorites. My microfiber cloths came to mind as not a day goes by that I don’t use them.
I use one color for the kitchen, one for baths & one for general dusting, wiping, etc.
Then here comes Sarah @ Thrifty Decor Chick with this link party.
So now I had to give cleaning a little more thought. Turns out, my actual ‘favorite’ cleaning items are for my least favorite places to clean!
Anyone have a glass dining table? Ugh. Drives me cah-ray-zee. At least these guys help.
Just dampen and go. No need to dry. Really! I use them on all windows, mirrors, even car windows. Love these guys. Got ‘em here.
My other least favorite task is mopping the kitchen floor. Our kitchen is centered in the house. Like, anyone walking in the front door walks directly into the kitchen. White linoleum w/little nooks & crannies. Drives me insane.
At one time I had a Bissell electric mop thingie. Expensive (‘round $90) and worked great – for a week or so. My big black baby’s hair clogged it up constantly because his hair floats all over the house.
Now I use a Mr. Clean PVC mop. Love it. Can’t always find replacement heads so I treat it w/kid gloves because it’s the best mop I’ve found.
But before I mop, I have to sweep. Sweeping & mopping not good for bad backs. So I have one of these guys.
Love this little guy. I usually don’t believe those ‘As Seen On TV’ gizmos. Actually I got this on HSN or QVC. This actually lives up to it’s name. Even 2 yr old Grandson gets into the act with this and helps Grandma.
On to the bathrooms. UGH. Our house has two master suites – bedrooms with baths attached. No bathtub – just hah-uge showers (3-1/2’ w x 5’ l) that are that fiberglass junk. I have 2 magic wands for these extra ‘rooms’.
This thingy has an extension pole so I don’t have to get completely cruddy while cleaning the walls, glass enclosure doors, and the shower floor.
But if I get lazy and let a week go by, the floor gets outta hand. Then I have to get out my secret weapon -
I recommend this scrubber for anyone. I use it in the kitchen and bathrooms. It’s forbidden to leave the house, however. Hubster can find all kinds of things outside to use it on. No way, man. He can go get his own secret weapon.
You know, I used to love cleaning. I did! I used to divide my house up into 6 sections and clean a section a day – with one day off. Of course, I was single then and could clean the entire house in less than 2 hours. (I was also extremely organized then.)
Then came Hubster and 3 little boys, then a dog, then a foster son, then, and then, and then . . .
Now it’s just the two of us. And I spend half the week w/my mom, and that doesn’t leave a lot of time for cleaning at my house.
No, ‘favorite’ & ‘cleaning’ don’t really go together except for one special cleaning item. Yep, it’s truly my favorite. Here’s a pic. Hint – it’s the bigger one!
