How To Paint Chevron Stripes

Painting stripes can be a big enough challenge, but chevrons? You know, the zig-zag stripes. They are popular right now and, I’ll admit, they do add some pop to a room.

So how would you go about painting them? While you ponder that, let me share a few methods that bloggers have used.

(Yes, I ‘blog-gled’ chevron stripes.)

Room by Room

Lisa at Room by Room devised her own method and template to paint chevron stripes on a serving tray.

Very clever and I love the turquoise and bright green she chose for paint colors.

Bon Temps Beignet

Liz at Bon Temps Beignet is a girl after my own heart. She painted this darling box with chevron stripes, but that was her 2nd effort.  Her first was quatrefoil which didn’t work out. But she shared it anyway – which I just love.

Makes me feel like I’m not alone with all my do-overs.

Here’s what I thought was so ingenious – she made her stencil for the quatrefoil with clear tape! I love that! If I ever wanted to try stenciling again – don’t hold your breath – I’d definitely grab some tape and give it a go.

Head on over to Bon Temps Beignet to see how she painted perfect chevron stripes on her thrift store box.

Apartment Therapy

Sarah Rae’s post title at Apartment Therapy, “How To Make Perfect Chevron Stripes Every Time”, got my attention. The fact that she painted a big ol’ rug did too.

If you’re thinking about painting a large project like a rug, or a wall, you’ve got to read Sarah’s post. She brings up some points I know I never would’ve thought of.

Oh, and by the way, she used spray paint on the rug. Get that!

So there are 3 different ways to paint chevron stripes. Seems like someone should invent a tool or gadget or something, right? Well, someone did and they sent me one to try out! I’ve just been so dang busy with other projects I haven’t had a chance to break it out yet. It’s next on my agenda though and I’m so excited to try it out.

Do you have a paint project you'd like to have featured on Mural Maker & More? I'd love to share your creativity here. Just email me at MuralMaker1@gmail.com and let me know!
