Halloween Tree with #FallAleenes

Halloween-Ornaments

Having the right ‘tools’ for the job makes any project easier. That’s especially true for us crafters, DIYers and decorators. At the top of my must-have’s list are glues and adhesives. I was thrilled when Aleene’s sent me some of their glues and adhesives to try out.

Aleenes-adhesives

Aleene’s Tacky Glue has been my go-to glue for years and years but the other adhesives they sent prompted me to try some crafts I never would’ve thought about doing. Without good adhesives, that is.

Today I want to show you how to make a really easy Halloween tree. I use branches from our yard for decorating. A lot. Since it’s Halloween time, I spraypainted the branches with black matte.

Halloween-Tree-6

A little spanish moss and a dollar store raven and I had a ‘tree’. But since all of my Halloween decorations are headed to my grandson’s house, this tree needed a little something extra.

Easy Ornaments for Halloween Tree

  • Dollar Store “Apple” cut outs (in office supply/teacher section)
  • Black spray paint
  • Cardboard Jack ‘o Lanterns from dollar store
  • Black ribbon
  • Aleene’s Tacky Tape Runner

Halloween-Tree-1

First spraypaint the ‘apples’ on both sides and let dry thoroughly.

Halloween-Tree-2

Apply a small trip of Aleene’s Tacky Tape Runner.

Halloween-Tree-3

Adhere one end of ribbon to glue and then apply another strip of glue horizontally.

Halloween-Tree-4

Press the jack o’ lantern on. Repeat on the reverse side, forming a loop with the ribbon.

Done. No drying time. No waiting.

Halloween-Tree7

Now the tree looks a bit more kid-friendly.

Halloween-Tree-8

Just those two little strips of glue hold the ornaments together. Perfect for kids to craft with because there’s no drying time.

Halloween-Tree-9

But wait! There’s more! (Yes, I maybe watch a few too many infomercials.) I still had loads of these dollar store foam stickers, which I love but peeling off the paper backing is kinda tough for little fingers. And some grandma’s too. #justsayin.

Much, much easier, and quicker, to just lay down a smidge of Aleene’s Tacky Tape and then the ribbon and foam sticker.

Halloween-Tree-11

Now the tree is fully decorated with all sorts of fun Halloween icons.

And it’s de-creepified and grandson-approved.

That’s my standard for product testing – does it meet my grandson’s approval. I made two more projects using Aleene’s glues and adhesives that Grandson approved.

memory-pillow-7

The Fabric Fusion tape worked perfectly for a memory pillow. Absolutely no-sew. And NO ironing! This stuff is Amazing. A peel ‘n stick tape that works on a jersey knit? Love.

memory-pillow-13

Don’t take my word for it. The pillow has survived a whole lotta huggin’ and squeezin’ and is still going strong.

I had another project in mind that would’ve normally required a needle and thread. I thought I’d try out the Max Tacky Adhesive and the Tacky Tape Runner.

countdown-calendar-19

I glued googly eyes onto painted canvas with Max Tacky Adhesive. Worked great.

tacky-tape-runner-2

The Tacky Tape Runner was perfect to adhere the canvas pockets onto the Halloween Countdown Calendar.

Countdown Calendar

I am so happy with all of these glues and adhesives. After making three big projects, I still have plenty left over for Christmas! My wheels are already turning. Can you say “Advent Calendar”?
