I’m assuming that Just Paint It! isn’t the only blog you read.
I’m assuming you enjoy reading other DIY/creative/craft/home-type blogs.
I’m also assuming that if you like reading blogs, it’s a pretty safe bet you’d also like to watch a blogger do whatever it is that they blog about.
Which, in my case, is paint. In case you hadn’t figured that out.
I’m assuming you already know I have a knack for stating the obvious.
Ok, so imagine this – imagine being able to watch some of your favorite bloggers LIVE!
No, Martha didn’t invite us all to appear on her show. But what’s coming up next week is almost as cool.
Over 20 bloggers and myself will be broadcasting a “Homemade Thanksgiving” all next week, November 5 – 9 via Google+ Hangouts On Air.
What’s a Google+ Hangout On Air, you might be asking. Oh my goodness, let me explain because I happen to think they’re the coolest things online right now, whether you’re a blogger or not.
And whether or not you still say ‘cool’.
Simply put, Hangouts on Air (HOA) are live video broadcasts. Remember a while back I mentioned hosting Hangouts? (just nod your head like you remember) HOA’s are a little different than regular Hangouts.
In a regular Google+ Hangout up to 10 people can essentially video conference together.
It’s more than a boring ol’ conference. It’s fun! You can see everyone in the Hangout down in the “filmstrip” and whoever is talking is in the main viewer.
That’s a Hangout. Easy. Fun. And, as I said before, I’ll be hosting painting hangouts very soon.
But what’s the difference between a Hangout and a Hangout On Air? In an HOA, anyone can watch. Anyone! It’s a live broadcast, so all you’ll need is the url – the web address.
How does Google+ do that? Well, it just so happens that YouTube is part of the Google family. So they’ve interfaced Google+ Hangouts & YouTube so lots of people can watch an HOA at the same time. Only 10 people can talk – those in the actual Hangout – but tons of people get to watch.
So when Google+ asked a group of us bloggers if we’d like to host Homemade Thanksgiving, we jumped at the chance.
Okay, maybe a few of us were a little, um, hesitant about the whole being-on-video thing.
Not me, though. *ham* I eventually twisted enough arms enticed the shy gals over to the ‘wild’ side. Just kidding.
I just believe that video is a very logical step for creative bloggers. There are so many times when I’m writing a tutorial that I wish I could just show you what I’m doing! Now I can. And it’s not just me, my friends.
There are 17 different Hangouts On Air next week! Here’s the schedule – (all times are in PST.)
remember – all times listed are PST!
Quite a line up, isn’t it? I know! It’s like going to the best DIY blogging conference ever – and you don’t have to leave home! You don’t even have to dress up! Whether you even wear clothes or not, well, that’s up to you. I won’t judge.
So where do you go to see these videos?
Click on the blogger’s NAME, which will take you to their Google+ page and you’ll see a link to their video on YouTube.
But what if you have a conflict and can’t make a certain time & day of a broadcast?
No worries. Each video will be recorded on YouTube.
Just make sure you mark your calendar for Wednesday at 4 pm PST. I expect to see each and every one of you at my HOA. (totally kidding) (no I’m not.)
Someone asked me what I was demonstrating. Seriously? Paint! “What are you painting?” Stuff. I paint stuff. That’s what I do.
And apparently now I also do video demos too. And coerce as many bloggy friends as I can get to join me.
C’mon though – when have you ever seen a bloggy line up like this? Isn’t this gonna be just awesome? I know!
