Dip Dyed Easter Eggs

Dip Dyed Easter Eggs

Easter is now less than a week away. Before you grab the vinegar, I have another way to ‘decorate’ eggs. I call these “dip dyed” because that’s the way they look but, believe me, I didn’t dip these into a bowl of paint.

I guess you could, dip the eggs into a bowl of paint. But, you might find this odd, but I don’t like messy crafts.

Yes, I know – an artist who doesn’t like messes. A bit of a dichotomy, right?

It’s only one on a very long list. But I digress.

To get the dipped effect, paint one end of your egg. I used paper mache, but plastic or real eggs would work fine.

Once the paint dries, apply painter’s tape in a diagonal fashion.

Then coat the other end with either gold paint or liquid gilding. I liked the color of the metallic paint better, but the liquid gilding covered in one coat.

That’s it! Quick, easy, and pretty ‘dipped’ eggs.

The turquoise is Folk Art Enamel and the pink is Martha’s Pearl Fruit Punch. Pretty just sitting in a dollar store plate . . .

Or surrounding a dip-dotted birdhouse.

Or piled together with the faux gilded eggs.

There! I think I’m all ready for Easter. Or then again, maybe not. I just might have a few more tricks up my sleeve, or pull a bunny out of a hat.

How about you? Are you ready for Easter? Or are you like me, going to squeeze a few more projects in?
