Dollar Store St. Patrick’s Decor

DollarStore-St Pats Decor

I have to admit that I’ve never decorated for St. Patrick’s Day. Ever. But holiday decorations, they’re oh-so important to kids, aren’t they? Particularly 5 year old kindergartners.

I needed wanted to make something that was colorful, shiny, and quick. Dollar Store, here I come.

I made the rainbow out of paint on watercolor paper, which I had on hand. But you could use markers or construction paper or other goodies for a rainbow.

The Dollar Store also had the shamrock foamies, as well as stick on letters, and some black felt.

I got the gold charger plate at Christmas. I originally intended on making a shamrock wreath but I noticed a crack in this charger. Perfect!

I painted the rainbow and then tried to figure out the placement for everything.

The “gold” pieces are arcade tokens I shot with a little spray paint. (Don’t tell my grandson.)

The letters are self-adhesive.

The bright colors add a touch of Spring to the plate.

Although I loved the brightly painted rainbow, I couldn’t resist adding a little glitter paint. For the 5 year old, you know.

Or maybe, the 5 year old inside of me.

My idea of a perfect holiday craft – a little paint, a little glitter, dollar store items, and super quick to put together!

(Do you think the tokens will still work at the arcade? Because I just bet he’ll notice those right off the bat!)

Do you decorate for St. Patrick’s Day? What do you do?

My friends have some fun St. Patrick’s projects too. Click on the thumbnails below to see their projects!
