Sweet Sunflowers

I know it’s not the season for them, but the bright sun streaming in the windows this morning made me think of sunflowers. Then I realized I had painted sunflowers in a few different ways and thought it’d be fun to do a collection.

This is my favorite – just because of the detail. It was also one of my first attempts in Photoshop, trying to select just the petals. I obviously need some more PS practice.

This grouping is painted on watercolor paper. I still have this painting so I need to put it in my Etsy shop eventually.

I painted this tile mural on a backsplash. I used regular acrylic paint and sealed it with lacquer. I wasn’t sure it’d work, but it’s still going strong!

It’s a nice option if you want something decorative on your tile and it’s already installed.

These sunflowers are over4’ high on a baby girl’s nursery wall. They’re actually growth charts! Since she has a big brother, I painted  two sunflowers on the wall.

I painted this little wall hanging on regular canvas fabric – no primer.

This pic shows the brown nubbies in the fabric a bit more. I love painting on fabric and letting the qualities of the fabric become part of the artwork.

This needs to go in my Etsy shop too. Hey! Guess I have some work to do, huh? Who knows how many paintings I have laying around here? Lord knows, they’re not hanging on my walls ;)

Ready to party?

  2. Nice paintings! I haven't been by lately have been zonked with obligations. I like the bouquet that has a variety. I also like the kitchen counter one. You do paint nice paintings. Sunflowers and daisy's make my heart want to sing!

  3. Lovely art!! I did a mural in my daughters room with some sunflowers (it was partly stamped from foam I trimmed) but it didn't come out anywhere near as nice as yours. Kudos!! :-)
