Daily Inspiration -I am a lamp fiend. I first developed my fetish when I managed a little Home & Garden store where our displays were armoires, pine bookcases & old tables. We carried a few lines of little lamps, but they weren’t selling. Once we put a lightbulb in some of them, moved them all over the store and switched them on, the lamps sold as well as the merchandise surrounding them.
Thoughts become things. Choose good ones!
It was then I saw the power of little lamps. I love them all over the house – in the kitchen, on a bookshelf – anywhere I want to add just a little ambient light.
So I wasn’t too surprised to find creative bloggers who have decorated their lampshades. They’re great projects for an afternoon!
While I was digging thru my shed, I found this little guy – unfinished, of course!
I can’t even remember what color blue I used! Guess I’ll paint over it with another shade. I don’t even have a lamp base for it.
My thought was to do sort of a ‘reverse’ stencil, even though I didn’t use a stencil. (Me & stencils don’t get along too well.) I like the watercolor effect of the reverse. Now that I’ve shown you this, I guess I might as well finish it!

Leslie @ BargainShoppingParadise took this little lampshade & with a little glue and a pillowcase created a darling shade.

How cute is that?
CreationsFromMyHeart
Sherry & her partner @ CreationsFromMyHeat took these little cuties, added some paint and some trim and created these beauties!
CreationsFromMyHeart
Oooh, I’d love this next to my bed, but don’t think Hubs would appreciate the beauty. Still, isn’t it just spectacular?
No worries, though. She also made this!
CreationsFromMyHeart
She has a wonderful tutorial here. I just need a little lamp for my bedside table. Goodwill, here I come!
LittleRedRoost
Aren’t you just loving burlap? Hattie @ LittleRedRoost covered a red – yes, Red! – lampshade and updated this vintage white lamp with a burlap shade. So cute, isn’t it?
TheShabbyChicCottage
And last, but certainly not least, Gina @ TheShabbyChicCottage made a Pottery Barn-inspired lampshade. A little paint, a rubber stamp and Voila! I swear, she should win an award for best PB knock-offs! If you haven’t visited her, go check out all of her great projects! Plus, she has a great linky party today – don’t miss it!
So whether it’s paint, fabric, or a pillowcase, you can decorate a plain ol’ lampshade and make it something to treasure!
Colleen
Some awesome ideas Colleen. Of course you know that I want to see the wee faery one when ya get her done. ^_^

ReplyDeleteSherry and I were delighted to see our lamps nestled among all the other pretty ones! Each one is an inspiration. Love your site - I'll be back often to see what's new. Thanks for featuring our project.
ReplyDeleteLamps and shades are a weakness of mine too. Would love to see your half moon mural shade finished because it looks like it's off to an excellent start! I once wrote the lyrics to John Lennon's "Imagine" on a lampshade. Pam @ Sallygoodin
