I’m playing a little leap toad frog on our feng shui journey in honor of today’s Practical Magic Blog Party. But I just couldn’t resist.
After all, I’ve been called a witch frequently in my life.
What do you mean they weren’t saying Wah - itch?
Huh? A ‘B’?
I don’t get . . . OH! That’s what they’ve been saying, huh?
Well, actually, that just might be a little more accurate.
But let’s get to some Practical Magic. Everything about feng shui could be called practical magic.
It’s definitely practical, and the results definitely feel like magic.
In honor of today’s party, I thought we’d talk about an important ritual – Blessing a Cure.
A cure is when we place something symbolic to adjust energy. It could be a mirror, a crystal, a fountain, or many other things.
Technically speaking, any adjustments could be classified as ‘cures.’
Just making the placement will definitely cause a shift in energy. But adding a blessing amplifies the shift. It’s also something you don’t find in many books.
As a matter of fact, I can’t think of any book that has it. I learned it from my feng shui teachers.
Now I’m passing it on to you.
I do the traditional feng shui blessing.
- make sure the area where you’re placing the cure is clean. Spotless. Otherwise you could be amplifying chaos, rather than increasing a smooth flow of energy.
- place the cure.
- visualize the desired result – love, opportunity, prosperity, etc.
- place your hands in a symbolic position. I place my palms together as if in prayer. You could use a mudra or anything else that’s significant to you.
- Recite a verbal blessing 9 times. Out loud.
This could be a prayer, an affirmation, an incantation or I use the buddhist blessing, which is:
Gate Gate Para Gate Para Sum Gate Bodhi Swatha
{gah-tay, gah-tay, pah-rah gah-tay,
pah-rah sum gah-tay, bode-hee svah-hah}
Nine times. Out loud.
How do I keep track of the nine repetitions? I use my fingers. Some people use special coins. Be creative and come up with your own way, if you want.
It takes a little practice, but it’s so worth it.
You don’t have to believe me. Try it for yourself. Or try it for one cure and not for another. Give it a couple of weeks and see if there have been any shifts.
Like I said, you don’t have to use the buddhist blessing, especially if it bothers you for some reason. If it does bother you, then that goes against all the feng shui principles.
It should feel good to you. It’s a Blessing.
It’s my gift to you. A little Practical Magic, just for you.
Oh, I haven’t forgotten our daily Feng Shui Savvy. Yesterday you used the Bagua to find what area your front door is in, right?
Today look at all nine areas on the Bagua and decide which area you want to enhance or clear.
Just one, please.
You can’t work on one area without it affecting others, anyway.
Pick one and then look at your home, based upon your front door and find what room(s) are in that area.
That’s all. You’re learning to see with ‘feng shui eyes’.
More tomorrow.
