Facebook Fan Pages – Some Tips

Let me start off saying that I am by no means a pro at Facebook. But I’m learning.

Since I’m learning from other bloggers who are generous enough to share their knowledge, I figure I should share what little knowledge I have.

I learned this Facebook tip from an article at CrafterMinds, written by four expert bloggers -

If you haven’t checked them out yet, please do.

You won’t be sorry.

They have some fabulous tips for bloggers.

Beckie wrote about this Facebook tip in this post, but since I’m a visual person, I needed visual aids, lol.

I have my personal Facebook page.

And my ‘fan’ page for Mural Makers.

Do you have a fan page yet? I highly recommend having both a personal page and a fan page.

I’ll be the first one to admit, though, I haven’t fully used my fan page. But I’m learning – slowly, but surely.

For instance, I didn’t realize that every time I ‘liked’ a page, it was under Colleen, not Mural Makers. I didn’t think it mattered until I read Beckie’s post.

It does.

But, I didn’t even know how to switch over to Mural Makers to ‘like’ pages.

Here’s what you do -

On your personal page, click on “Account” then scroll down to “Use Facebook as Page”.

Okay, so I happen to have more than one ‘fan’ page.

I go a little nuts signing up with all this online stuff.

Then I try and figure it all out later. Sometimes.

Once your using Facebook as your Fan page, you can ‘like’ all the pages you, uh, like.

If you’re a crafter/DIYer/artist-type, like me, you probably use the same products over and over again.

Like Sharpies. I love them.

A lot.

Part of yesterday’s post had a Sharpie project included. So I tried Beckie’s trick.

I added a link to my blog post, then wrote a comment with ‘Sharpie’ in it.

I headed over to the Sharpie page . . .

. . . and Voila! There was my comment!

So, how do you get a link to show up on Facebook?

First, you have to ‘like’ their page – as your blog/fan page, not your personal page, remember?

Then type your comment. As soon as you type “@” you’ll get a dropdown menu of all the pages you’ve liked.

When you hit “comment” their page will show up in blue as a link, and also appear on their fan page.

So your comment not only shows up on your page, it shows up on their page too!

How cool is that?

Such a simple way to not only increase your pageviews, but also give a shout-out to the manufacturers whose products you love using.

One other little tip . . .

Make sure you click “Everyone” so you can see comments on your fan page.

I won’t tell you how long it took me to figure this one out.

Yeah, I’m a bit slow sometimes. But usually I’ll figure it out.

Usually.

And you might want to go back to using Facebook as your personal page when you’re done.

If you have a Facebook page, leave a link in the comments here and I’ll happily ‘like’ you. Or your page, I mean.

If you’re reading this, I already like You!
