Before I take my baby laptop into the Geek Doc for the THIRD day, and today she’s gonna be fully resuscitated, {aaack!} I wanted to share some paint projects that’ll just floor ya!
Ok. Bad joke. When I’m nervous, I try jokes to lighten my mood.
Not so ‘light’ yet. I’ll feel better when Baby is fully restored to her greatness.
Have you ever thought about painting a rug or floorcloth? It’s a great project for spring and/or summer.
Lowe’s Creative Ideas has a great tutorial using linoleum. Yep – linoleum!
I’ve actually made a few of these (sorry, no pics tho ). They offer an estimated cost at $150. Uh . . . no. Not if you already have some primer, a little paint and some poly sealer. Oh, and a piece of old linoleum.
I haven’t done an actual cost, but I will soon when I make one for this year.
If you don’t happen to have a scrap of linoleum, you can always use a piece of canvas – say, like a painter’s dropcloth?
Sweet Something Design painted this great floorcloth with - what else? – chevron stripes!
Chevron stripes have become this year’s burlap, haven’t they? They’re growing on me. I like how they add some pattern without adding a ton of pattern. And on the floor? Perfect!
But maybe you like a little more pattern.
MLE’s ABC’s used a stencil to create this darling paisley floorcloth.
This project might have just pushed me over the edge. I just might have to break out a stencil. I’ve mentioned – only a hundred times – how I happen to be stencil-impaired. But I’m loving this paisley and I just can’t see myself painting it by hand.
Speaking of out on the edge, I’m getting ready to teach dance again. After a short 20 year hiatus!
I know! How crazy is that? I haven’t taught a dance class since my stepsons moved in. In 1992! In those 19, almost 20 years, my body has gotten rusty, along with my pea-brain, so I’m not sure what I’m thinking.
Yes I do. It’s for my Spirit. My Spirit has felt lacking ever since I quit dancing. So it’s truly for my Spirit. The body and mind will just have to catch up.
So this summer I’ll not only be painting a rug, I’ll be cuttin’ one too!
Oh! What kind of dance? Jazz. Beginning Jazz for Women. I call it “Last Chance Dance”.
Really.
I like it. The class is the ‘last chance’ for gals who want to dance.
I thought it was catchier than So You Think You Can TEACH Dance!
