Every so often I come across sheer awesomeness. I mean, between blog link parties and Pinterest, there’s a ton of cool stuff, isn’t there? But when I saw this dresser that was reverse stenciled, I went a little nuts. Ok, a little more nuts.
I came across the dresser on Better After, which is fun and awesome in it’s own right, due to Lindsey’s writing. Then I had to click over to Musings, Flor’s Blog on Design, to read how they took a dresser from Craigslist, slapped on a decal, painted over it, and then removed it to reveal . . . sheer awesomeness!
Now, I’d done a little reverse stenciling – mainly because I’ve had, um, issues with regular stencils. Sure, it’s one thing to do a lampshade, or a canvas, but it’s another thing altogether to tackle furniture.
Surprisingly I didn’t find too many pieces when I googled “reverse stencil furniture”. Other than Flor’s dresser.
And this cute little end table over at Shelterpop. They have a cool method to make the stencil (hint: painter’s tape), so you have to go check it out.
But if you have a Silhouette or Cricut, you could cut your own decals and go to town. Either on furniture or . . .
. . . mirrors! Sprayed with frosted glass spray paint. How simple is that to make some great wall art? Read more on Fairytale Frosting’s project over at Knock Off Décor.
Hmmm, if mirrors look that good, how about plain ol’ glass?
StencilSearch shared this table that used a doily as a stencil on the glass shelves. They have some other great projects made with frosted glass spray paint that I think you’ll like too.
What was the last thing you came across that was awesome? How did you find it? Leave a comment and share, ok?
