Hello! And welcome! If this is your first time here I’m on the 10th day of a 31 Day blogging challenge – Easy Holiday Paint Projects. Today is October 10th . . . still – so I’m posting my 10th paint project.
I’m gonna make it short and sweet because I’ve gotta get started on tomorrow’s post so you have it before . . . well, before October 11th is more than half over.
This project is super simple. Kind of a last-minute-thought kinda thing you can whip up if you need a little something extra for a candle or two. And I did. After the Spooky Burlap Runner there by itself on the table for a few days, I knew I needed more decoration than the plain ivory candles.
Before anyone starts to wonder about the fire hazard of burlap on candles, these candles are flameless.
They look real. They feel real.
But they’re battery-operated and even come with a timer, which I absolutely love. We got these from QVC but more and more retailers are starting to carry them.
Anywayz, I cut a couple strips of burlap from what little remnant I have left.
Then, with a Sharpie, I drew a few bats on one and some spiderwebs on the other.
Then painted the bats and spiderwebs with plain ol’ black craft paint.
And they looked like plain ol’ bats and spiderwebs. Hmm . . . what else can I add?
How ‘bout some Onyx glitter paint by Martha Stewart? Most definitely!
Once they dried I had to figure out how to attach the burlap to the candles. I didn’t want to glue them. Tape wouldn’t stick to the burlap very well.
Then I spied this mess . . .
. . a pile of burlap fibers from fraying the spooky runner. I knew this stuff would come in handy for something! I just wrapped the burlap and a single strand around the candle and tied a knot.
The bats looked pretty cute with the candle lit.
The spiderwebs? Not so much.
But I still like both candle wraps on the burlap runner.
Still, the table needs something else. Whelp, I’ve got 21 more days ‘til Halloween – which means 21 more painting projects! {somebody save me} WhooHoo!
But I will tell you, I’m not doing 21 more Halloween paint projects. Gah! Nope. I’ve got a couple for Thanksgiving and a ton for Christmas! So stop by again and grab some ideas.
I’ll try and have links to all 31 projects in my sidebar. That’s when (and if) I can actually get a post written before noon!
Drop by and say hi to my fellow 31 dayer.
