Project Life on HSN!

This post is part of a paid campaign with American Crafts, but all opinions are my own.

Today I want to talk about two companies that I’m passionate about – Project Life and HSN (Home Shopping Network). How can I be passionate about a company? Let me explain.

I’ve mentioned that I used to work in a craft store. During my years there I watched as scrapbooking grew from a few rubber stamps and decorative papers into a very large percentage of the entire store. I didn’t get it. I was a busy mom of three active boys. Who had time to cut and paste and decorate and stamp a photo album? Not me, and I steered far away from the scrapbooking department, content to have all of my photos stuffed into a shoebox.

After Marlon died last year, I gathered every photo I had of him, which wasn’t a lot since he was photographer of our family. I asked family members for photos of him. Not just for me, but for our grandson, Santino, who was trying desperately to hold on to every image, smell and touch of his beloved ‘Poppy’.

When Santino’s mother asked me to put a photo book together for him, I was happy to . . . until I realized how very few photos I had of my husband. We shared a life for 21 years and I had a handful of photos. It still bothers me to this day. I did make that book for Santino and he treasures it, but I’m so regretful that I can’t make him another and another and another. But I can’t.

What I can do is make sure not another day passes without a photograph. Ask my grandson, he’ll tell you, I take loads of photos of him. I can’t rewrite the past but I can certainly create a future full of wonderful memories.

I heard about Becky Higgins’ Project Life last year, but I wasn’t ready for it yet. It takes time to allow yourself to create a future. Now I’m ready.

When I first heard of Project Life I nearly mistook it for the scrapbooking I’d seen in the craft store. Project life is not like anything I’ve ever seen, and nothing like the stuff we carried years ago. It’s simple, and it’s brilliant in its simplicity. It requires no scissors, no glue, no tools and – best of all – no skills of any kind. But it’s just as great for people with no scrapbooking experience, like me, as it is to those with years behind them.

How?

What I can tell you is why I’m excited and impressed about Project Life, ok? The Core Kits each have a wide assortment of cards, some with wording, some not. All are adorable.

The Core Kit cards fit into page protectors, alongside your photos, and the protectors fit into these beautiful binders. Simple and brilliant. And do-able! If you want to write something, there are plenty of decorative cards. If you want to embellish more, you can do that too.

Or you can just slide your photos into the page protectors, add some Project Life cards and have a wonderful keepsake that’s quick and easy. I love my grandson beyond compare but, hey, I’d rather spend more time with him instead scrapbooking. With Project Life, I get to do both.

Now you know why I love Project Life – it’s brilliant. And so is HSN. I’ve ordered so much from HSN the UPS guy used to be on a first name basis with Hubs. Was it the ease of shopping from home? Partly. Of being able to watch demonstrators on television so I could actually see how products worked? Partly that too. Beyond those two things, HSN often ‘bundles’ products together, for a price that’s hard to beat. Now, that’s what I really love about HSN – you get products that you either can’t get in a store or can’t get for the same price. And it’s shipped direct to your door?!

Now you see why I love HSN too.

When I heard that Project Life is now available on HSN I nearly jumped for joy. The best part is that this Monday, August 5, HSN is running a special sale on several Project Life bundles, for unbeatable prices! If you can’t watch HSN on TV Monday, you can go to HSN.com to find all of the deals.

Just in time for back-to-school photos. Just in time for the upcoming holidays. Just in time for Santino’s birthday in September. (Which may include some party decorations that happen to look like L.E.G.O.s)

Just in time for Life.

Yes, this is a sponsored post but, believe me when I say, I am truly passionate about both Project Life and HSN. I hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity and use it to record your own life.

One day you’ll be oh-so thankful that you did.

  1. I'm like you Colleen, in that I've steered away from creating scrapbooks, yet I've got boxes labeled with various topics like "Germany trip" and "Wedding" (major guilt there!). I didn't quite know what Project Life was until reading your post and now it doesn't scare me so much! I'll be tuning into HSN on Monday!
