I was ready. I was organized.
I had a Plan.
Since I just moved in September, where I had tons of ‘helpers’, I was smarter, wiser.
I had a Plan.
I’ve decided that moving is like going to the dentist. No one wants to do it, but you feel much, much better when it’s over.
Only, this morning, it’s not over.
This is the last day of packing before BBH and #3 Son move us tomorrow.
And right about now, the Plan is being ditched.
Wanna know what my Plan is was?
- First, get a set of colored Sharpies.
No problem there. I have a ton of them – all different colors.
- Assign a color to each room.
- Begin packing stuff you don’t use too often. Mark the box in the color for that room and number it.
Okay, I ditched this numbering thing early on because I knew most everything would get unpacked fairly soon.
Okay, I actually started numbering the first day and then I ditched it on the 2nd day.
The organizing part of me just had to give it a try.
But the ‘get-it-done’ part of me decided it really didn’t matter.
Plus, I know my guys. They’re not gonna notice the difference between blue & purple writing on a brown box.
Just not gonna happen.
So now I’m only doing three things:
1. Mark the room and the contents in the box.
2. Mark an up or down arrow.
As long as they get it upstairs or leave it downstairs, I can deal with from there.
At some point.
3. Mark FRAGILE items with bright yellow tape.
My guys aren’t gonna read ‘fragile’. Not gonna happen. I’m not totally sure about the yellow tape, either.
But after moving last fall and having about 6 guys schlepping my carefully packed possessions around, I knew I had to do better this time.
Yellow tape, People!
I’ll let you know next week how it goes.
So today’s the last day.
I walked room by room last night to surmise the situation.
Not bad, not bad, I thought.
Until I walked into my mother’s room.
O.M.G.!!!
I obviously didn’t get my organizing traits from my mother.
Hey! At least she found some shelf liner.
I’m trying grasping for anything positive this morning.
Pray for me.
