Cherry Blossom Crafts

I’ve been on the hunt for cute and simple paint projects ever since I posted Dipdot Flowers a couple of weeks ago.

Cue the ‘cute ‘n simple’ choir.

How clever is this? I spotted it on DollarStoreCrafts and then clicked over to Alphamom to make sure it was easy as it looks. It sure looks like dipdot, just with an empty soda bottle instead of the end of a paintbrush.

I can’t wait to try this, with both large and small soda bottles. While I adore cherry blossoms, I’m thinkin’ we can make all kinds of flowers. But more on that later.

Have you ever seen a project on one blog, and then somewhere else, and then again, and you feel like you’ve missed out on a whole new trend? That’s the way I felt when I googled ‘cherry blossom branches’.

Who knew?

Martha’s staff made her cherry blossom branches with two shades of pink vellum or glassine. But, of course.

Good Housekeeping used tissue paper and then cut petals for their cherry blossoms.

But my favorites are the cherry blossoms Kara made. (leave it to a blogger!) She used tissue paper too but she gives great instructions! As in, supply list, photos, explanations. You know, the kind of directions bloggers give. Winking smile Plus, I just like the way Kara’s look too.

So I’m gonna go drink some soda – just to empty the bottle, of course – and play around with some different flowers. But the next time I paint a cherry blossom mural, I’ll definitely want a vase of tissue cherry blossoms nearby.
