Feng Shui Savvy – Turquoise

102_1902

So let’s talk a little bit about the color Turquoise and feng shui. As in decorating, color is one of the fastest ways to update a space. Whether it’s paint or fabric, adding pops of color can instantly transform a room. If you add turquoise, what vibration – feng shui speaking – are you adding to the environment?

Let’s go back to how you make the color turquoise. It’s a combination of blue (Water Element) & Green (Wood Element), with White (Metal) to lighten and brighten.

The combination of blues & greens (Water & Wood) bring that soothing feeling of the sea, sky, or a wonderful tropical place.

Soothing. Peaceful. Relaxation. These are words that come when one thinks of the pristine waters you see on vacation.

And so it goes with Turquoise as a color itself. If we look at the Bagua, you’ll notice in between Wood (Personal Growth) & Water (Journey) is the area of Knowledge & Self-Cultivation.

>Knowledge & Self-Cultivation in the Bagua falls in the left front area of your house, room or property – the left front third of the space.<

When one takes the time to increase their knowledge, first you must go within. Peaceful. Quiet your mind. Soothing. Relaxation.

Are you seeing how this works? You may think that turquoise is just a color, but color experts – whether or not they subscribe to feng shui principles – no differently. They fully understand that colors elicit sensory reactions from people.

Think about fast food restaurants. They’re full of red & orange. Fast energy. Get in, get out, move on. Then think of expensive restaurants – full of earth tones & rich colors. Stay, relax, order some more wine!

Coincidence? Not to the ‘experts’, or feng shui consultants.

So do you have to paint all your walls turquoise to bring in some Self-Cultivation energy? Not at all. Feng shui is all about balance.

I’ll go even further here. The three most important things to consider with feng shui are:
  1. Comfort
  2. Safety
  3. Self-Expression
Maybe turquoise fits into one of the above for you. Maybe not. But now, you’re feng shui savvy about turquoise!
